It's a Girl!

We are officially the proud family of a new baby kitten. The girls have lovingly named her Cookie. They originally wanted to call her Oreo but I was afraid I'd never be able to enjoy a favorite treat again. So a compromise was made.
She is sweet and gentle but won't sit still for the life of her. She loves to be held, doesn't mind a bath and enjoys attacking toes. We have had her for two days and we're already completely in love with her. It has been a long time since we have had a pet because we are so heart broken when one dies so hopefully she will be with us for many years.

I Love the 4th of July!

It isn't summer if you don't go to a baseball game. We started the holiday the night of the 3rd at an Orem, Owlz (semi-pro) baseball game. We like holidays to last as long as possible so why not start the night before. Lexi called it the 4th of July Eve. Perfect!

I'm not sure, I can't tell if Katelyn is bored to total and complete sadness or if she just hated the idea of the Owlz losing (which they did of course). Following the lose of the game 1 - 7, Orem showed their spirit with some fireworks. For our 4th celebration we picnicked in Salem Park (hamburgers and lemonade to name a few) then milkshakes while waiting for fireworks at BYU.

Washington DC, Virginia Trip

Happy 4th of July!

Curtis and I spent 4 days at the end of June in Virginia at a business seminar for weight loss and nutrition. We were a few minutes from D.C. and spent a late afternoon sight seeing. It had changed a lot from the visits we had previously made before 9-11. Not many of our own Americans were to be found. It felt VERY much like a foreign country. All except the White House grounds were looking badly taken care of if at all. Our sad, poor country. I'm proud to be from this wonderful country. I hope it will look better next time we go.

May 2008

Grandpa and his grand kids
Dad gave us a bit of a scare in May. He spent some time in the hospital with blood clots in each lung. The family immediately pulled together. Kyle and his family came from Arizona. Katie and Brent and Ryan came from Nevada. Once Dad came home and was feeling a little better. We planned a picnic dinner and smores in the Canyon.
